Recently, the Henan Provincial Department of Education issued a notice (Teaching and Vocational Development〔2024〕No. 364), officially announcing the list of the first batch of Dahe Workshop vocational education overseas project initiation construction units and nurturing construction units. The college, leveraging its foundation in establishing Zhan Tianyou Institutes in Ethiopia and Tanzania, successfully became one of the first nine Dahe Workshop project initiation construction units.
Dahe Workshop is a unified brand for vocational education overseas in Henan Province, aiming to promote cooperation between provincial vocational colleges and overseas Chinese enterprises, local governments, schools, and related organizations to carry out overseas education. It aims to train technical and skilled talents needed by Chinese enterprises and local economic development, thereby injecting Henan's vocational education strength into building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Since beginning cross-border education in 2016, the college has successively established four overseas Zhan Tianyou Institutes in Ethiopia, Uganda, the Philippines, and Tanzania, developed three teaching sites in Laos, Egypt, and the Philippines, signed a contract with Addis Ababa–Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway Company to jointly establish a Human Resource Development Training Center, forming a mutually supportive cross-border education pattern comprising overseas Zhan Tianyou Institutes + Overseas Teaching Sites + Training Center + Internship Base. On this basis, the college has completed five overseas railway personnel training projects to high standards, cumulatively training over 2700 individuals in various categories, including more than 500 local teachers, enrolling 182 students at both diploma and graduate levels. In 2023, relevant projects were selected as part of the Ministry of Education’s first batch of Future Africa – China-Africa Vocational Education Cooperation Special Projects.
Next, the college will take the opportunity of Dahe Workshop construction to further enrich the matrix construction of the vocational education overseas brand, strive to develop an innovative path in overseas education model construction, resource development, talent cultivation, standard promotion, and cultural dissemination, better serving the internationalization needs of Chinese enterprises and meeting the regional economic and social development needs of the Belt and Road initiative, continuously enhancing the international influence of Chinese vocational education.
